Strength Tarot Card
When we first see the imagery used for the Strength tarot card, it exudes a sense of impossibility. A young woman stands beside a fierce beast, often a lion, and without a trace of fear on her face, proceeds to make it submit to her opening its jaws with her hands.
Now, I know that in the sample Strength tarot card shown here, the figure doesn't look very feminine. Take it as just a sign of the medieval times and pretend. She's young and scarcely bigger than the lion itself but still she manages to control it. How does that work?

Traditionally, the maiden represents the conscious mind while the beast is the subconscious. Using that symbolism, we can see the need for our 'rational' self to master our deeper emotions.
Miss L tends to focus on the ideas of gentleness with strength. Even when looking at strength from the perspective of self-control, how often do we add self-love into the equation?
Whether you want to lose 10 pounds or learn a new language, do you try to rush through the process quickly, hating every second or do you take your time? Lingering in the journey, being gentle with your progress, attaining mastery through loving guidance.
When Strength makes an appearance, it's time to reassess our methods. If we have wanted to gain control over part of ourselves and failed repeatedly, pay attention.
Perhaps now is the time to throw the 'no pain, no gain' rule book out the window and learn anew. It's the time to allow ourselves to be guided with love and respect.
Things to Consider:
1. What is a goal requiring self-discipline that you have wanted to achieve but haven't managed to yet?
2. Has this 'failure' changed the way you feel about or try to motivate yourself?
3. Throwing out your rulebook, how could you try again to achieve this goal in a more gentle way?
It's too easy to buy into the idea that the person with the biggest weapon can win any fight. Mastery is an internal process first and foremost. Trust, confidence and love are the best tools in any fighter's arsenal.
